BRUSHWOOD CENTER
Located on Lake County Forest Preserve grounds, the Brushwood Center at Ryerson Woods is a non-profit that engages people with the outdoors through the arts, environmental education, and community action. Brushwood works collaboratively with community partners, artists, health care providers, and scientists to improve health equity and access to nature in Lake County, Illinois, and the Chicago region, with a focus on youth, families, Military Veterans, and those facing racial and economic injustices.
Led by Serena Sturm Architects, the design team is working on the renovation of Brushwood's existing building, a historic mansion, and a strategic expansion that includes a brand new indoor/outdoor performance plaza.
